Step-by-step guide for applying for study support

The steps listed on this page guide you through the financial support application process.

Step 1: Review eligibility requirements

  • Review the financial support guidelines to check you’re eligible to apply, and to read about tax implications and other important details.
  • Ensure that the early childhood qualification you have been accepted to study is recognised by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and is on the approved qualifications list.
  • Have a letter of offer or proof of enrolment from your institution. Your application will not be assessed until you can provide either of these official documents.
  • Talk to your employer if you are a diploma student currently working in the South Australian early childhood sector, before applying for the employer funding support.

Step 2: Gather evidence to support your application

When you complete your financial support application, you will need to provide the following:

  • proof of enrolment or letter of offer to study from your institution
  • proof of address (driver's licence and Medicare card or other proof)
  • proof of Aboriginality (if you're applying for Aboriginal pathways financial support).

Step 3: Apply

Complete your online application via the relevant link below.

Step 4: Application outcome

  • You will receive a response from the financial support program administrator, the BUSY Group, to your completed application within 3 weeks.
  • If you are successful, you'll be notified you’ve been pre-approved for financial support.

Step 5: Enrol in your course and provide evidence

  • If you haven’t yet enrolled, you can do it now with the confidence that your financial support is pre-approved.
  • The BUSY Group will invite you to an online session to guide you through the program, so you know what's expected.
  • After your first census date, send the proof of enrolment to the BUSY Group.

Step 6: Receive your contract and first payment

  • Once the BUSY Group administrators have received evidence of your enrolment, they will send you the financial support contract to complete electronically and return via DocuSign. You will need to do this to receive your first milestone payment.

Step 7: Annual evidence

  • For every year of your study, you will be required to send evidence of your enrolment after the Census date to the BUSY Group, to keep receiving milestone payments. Once you are qualified and commence employment in the sector (as per the financial support contract), you are required to send your employment details to the BUSY Group to receive retention payments.
